FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Files, formats and downloads. Here's how the tools work.

Files & privacy

Are the tools really free?

Yes. All six tools are free, with no account, subscription or watermark added to your exports.

Do my files leave my device?

Not for processing. Editing, previews and exports happen in your browser. Your browser downloads the website and editing software, but does not send your selected files to a processing server.

Will my original file change?

No. Downloading an edit creates a new file. Keep your original if you might need an unedited copy later.

Do I need to install anything?

No separate app or extension is needed. Open a tool in a modern browser. Some tools download a local editing engine the first time you use them.

Editing & downloads

Why does the first export take longer?

Video, audio and GIF tools may need to download the editing engine first. After that, the work runs on your device. Your browser can cache the engine for later visits.

Why won't a large file open?

Browser memory, the file format and each tool's size limits all matter. A damaged or unsupported file can also fail. Read the message shown by the tool; for large media, try a shorter clip or a lower-resolution copy.

Can I come back to an unfinished edit?

Don't rely on it. There is no account or cloud storage for your workspace. Switching tools, reloading or closing the tab can lose unsaved edits. Download anything you want to keep first.

Where is my finished file?

Use the tool's download button when the result is ready. Your browser saves it to its usual download location or asks where to put it. On a phone, check the browser's downloads list or the Files app.

Will compression lower the quality?

Lossy compression trades some detail for a smaller file. Trimming unused footage or reducing dimensions can help too. Preview or listen to the result before sharing it; converting to a lossless format cannot restore detail already lost.

Formats & devices

Which image formats can I open?

The image tool reads HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, JPEG XL, TIFF, SVG and common image formats. It saves JPG, PNG or WebP. Animation and extra pages are not kept in those still-image exports; camera RAW files need converting elsewhere first.

Can I save just the sound from a video?

Yes. Open a supported video in the audio tool, choose the part you need and export it as audio. MP3 is a practical choice for sharing; other formats are available in the tool.

Can I use this on my phone?

Yes, in a modern browser with the features the tool needs. Large files can be slower or exceed the memory available on a phone. Keep the tab open while it works, and try a shorter selection or lower resolution if needed.

Why can't I open a photo from my gallery?

A gallery or cloud provider can deny access even when the format is supported. Download the photo to Files or Downloads and select that copy. If you're using an in-app browser, try opening the site in Chrome or Safari.

How long can my GIF be?

Start with up to 25 images or a video selection of up to 15 seconds. Width and frame rate also affect the processing limits and final size. A shorter loop with fewer frames is usually much smaller. GIFs do not include sound.

QR codes & signatures

Do QR codes expire?

The tool creates static QR codes with no expiry or scan tracking added by ShrinkifyMedia. The content is stored in the pattern itself. A website linked by a code still needs to stay online.

Can I change a QR code after downloading it?

Not the encoded content. A different URL, Wi-Fi password or contact detail needs a new code. Anyone who can scan the code can read what you put in it, so don't include information you want to keep private.

Does PDF signing create a certified digital signature?

No. It adds a visible signature, not identity verification or a certificate-based digital signature. Editing a PDF does not preserve an existing digital signature. Check what the recipient accepts before signing an important document.

What format is a signed file saved in?

PDFs stay PDFs. JPG photos stay JPG; other supported images are saved as PNG. Multiple images or mixed document types are bundled in a ZIP. Each image needs a confirmed signature before it can be exported.
