How to make a GIF from a video

  1. Choose or drop a video up to 10 minutes and 500 MB.
  2. Drag the blue handles to trim up to 15 seconds. For longer videos, swipe the dark timeline pad to find your moment. Precise mode moves the edges in small steps.
  3. Choose a sharing destination under Share. Add top or bottom text under Text, then drag, pinch or pull the corner to place it. Style has black & white, playback, speed, shape, quality, frame rate and size.
  4. Press Make GIF, check the finished animation and download your GIF.

How long can my video and GIF selection be?

Videos can be up to 10 minutes, 500 MB and 4K. Choose up to 15 source seconds. Speed changes output duration; ping-pong doubles it. Shorter videos start fully selected, and you can still trim them.

Can I make a GIF for Discord?

Yes. Discord uses a conservative 10 MB sharing target, with actual size checks and automatic reduction if needed. Account limits vary. This makes chat GIFs, not animated emoji or stickers.

Can I post these GIFs on Reddit?

Reddit targets GIF posts under 20 MB. Community rules vary. This doesn't enable custom GIF uploads to comments; Reddit's comment GIF picker has separate restrictions.

Can I make GIFs for other apps?

Yes. Size targets also include WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Tumblr, GIPHY and Tenor. These do not upload files or guarantee acceptance; app and account rules vary.

Can I reverse the loop or change quality?

Style offers black and white, forward, reverse or ping-pong playback, speed, shape, quality, frame rate and maximum size. The preview shows playback effects before you export.

Why did my GIF get smaller?

Busy scenes create large GIFs. Dimensions, frame rate and sometimes colors are lowered to fit the target. If it still cannot fit, the tool asks you to shorten the clip instead of offering an oversized file.

Does the GIF have sound or a watermark?

No. GIF does not support sound. The result loops forever and has no watermark. Text appears only if you add it. Use the video compressor to keep sound in an MP4.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Processing happens in your browser. If a video cannot play directly, a compatible preview is made locally; the GIF still uses the original. The website and engine need to download. Keep the tab open.
